A soldier’s analysis of Hezbollah’s war preps
Now that blogs and blogging are finally on the radar in Israel (two years ago if you’d ask any Israeli, not just government officials, what a “blog” was you’d have been greeted by a blank look), I hope someone on high is reading Charles Levinson’s blog, “Conflict Blotter”. Insightful and pertinent.
We can’t afford any kind of self-deception, especially about Hizbullah. Hassan Nasrallah, unfortunately for us, does what he says and concrete preparations for the upcoming war aren’t being made in the most excellent coffee houses of Beirut. (With apologies to Lisa. Bubbles do exist outside of Tel Aviv.)
During last summer’s war we had the extra anxiety of knowing that our enlisted son was involved in the conflict. It was a surreal time for us. On one hand, we live far enough south to have escaped the nightmare that our northern countrymen couldn’t wake up from. On the other hand, one of our children sat under the very public nose of Hizbullah and easily could have been made an example of. Every send off following our son’s brief leaves at home was hard, but we were one of the lucky families who greeted their soldier home at the end of the war. So many families didn’t.
Show your support for the release of our soldiers, Ehud Goldwasser, Eldad Regev, Gilad Shalit.

Meantime, Savtadotty has found a cause. I’m decidedly less optimistic.
