When you care enough…

Website Lets You Send a Post-Rapture E-Mail to Friends ‘Left Behind (Wired)

The only comment I could possibly make about this mashup of religion and technology is

o_O

(The comments on the Wired site are pretty entertaining, but not for thin-skinned Believers. You’ve been warned!)

  1. Good grief! I only read the first sentence or two! Absurd!

  2. I sent my comment before I was through :( Anyway… the world does seem to be full of nuts!!!

  3. Speaking of nuts, would you like some fruitcake to go with that?

    o_O o_O o_O o_O o_O o_O

  4. Definitely not for the thin skinned and very un-Christian for one to want to “rub-it-in” with an email post rapture…hmmm.

  5. For Mary–Certainly unpleasant, un-nice, inhumane…but unChristian? I think not. Contemplate for a moment the positions of Christian churches and their actions, and I’m betting it will remind you that Christian family values embrace hatred, prejudice, judgementalism, support of violence, murder of those who believe otherwise (e.g., Pat Tillman), avarice for power and wealth, and that’s just in our generation, in our one country. If you have a weak stomach, don’t read the history of Christianity!

My point is, of course, that gloating fits right in.

Until the Rapture, I think for my own amusement, I’ll keep an eye open for reports of disappearance or mismanagement of assets listed in the servers.

  6. Oh, no, no. This is taking much too serious a turn for this not so serious blog.

My take is that the post Rapture emails sent is a last well-meaning gesture by departed Christians to give their loved, but unrepentant, ones a final opportunity to “get on board” as it were. Nothing more.

@fiona-Don’t think I’ve met a religion yet that is entirely untouched by the baser emotions of man.

And on that note-thank you for leaving your comments, which are now closed. If you feel very strongly on this topic, feel free to post about it on your own blog and link back to this post. Trackbacks are still open and will appear here in the comment section.
