Twitter Millennial

Celebrating my 1000th tweet since posting my first one on August 1, 2008. (Obviously I’m not a power user like some people I know).
(via TweetStats and wordle.net)
I’m not going to try to compete with the many posts about getting the most out of Twitter, but I will list here a few of my favorites that helped me when I started out:
- Webware’s Newbie’s Guide to Twitter
- TheGuardians’ How to make the most of Twitter
- Digital Inspiration How to do interesting things with Twitter
And a recent find for the Twittercentric, ” TwiTip“.
Now if WordPress.com could only get the new Twitter widget to display status updates consistently! Though given the number of apps that are built around and hit up the Twitter api regularly, it’s a miracle that it works at all. So another 2 sites worth bookmarking, “Twitter Status” and “Twitter Help“.
Update! In the category of “Things I wish I’d known before I started using Twitter”, “Ten Things You Must Know Before Using Twitter“. (hat tip @jeffpulver RT @hilzfuld on, what else, Twitter!)

Congrats!
I still remember when I hit 1000 tweets, it was quite a long time ago and long before I was as addicted to Twitter as I am now.
Actually, how long have you been on twitter? A certain daughter was nudging me ages ago to get with the program, but as usual, I was a late adopter.
I had my two year anniversary in March, can’t remember the day now. I was there before it was cool.
I didn’t tweet as much as I do now though, it took me a long time to build up a great group of followers that I have now and early failwhales and other problems caused me to take breaks, as well as Twitter disabling Google Talk.
Just came across a tool that told me: 29 Mar 07
Some pretty good stats: http://twanalyst.com/carocat/
Oh how fun!

Jennifer, please stay that way. I don’t follow that many people on twitter, but there are people who tweet at least once an hour, which means the only way I can keep up with my tweets is if I check them every 15 min or so. I’m afraid I have a life outside the internet and cannot keep that schedule, nor do I want to know what people are doing EVERY SINGLE HOUR OF THEIR LIFE.
So, I unsubscribed from following these tweetaholics, and when I consider adding somebody new to follow, I check how much they tweet, if it’s more than twice a day, I don’t add them.
Am I too oldschool?
There are those who can’t seem to stop twittering, and I follow a few of those. Sometimes makes me wish Twitter had a “pause” button. But only twice a day? Even I’d have a hard time qualifying for that.
And thanks for stopping by!
I guess I must lead an extremely boring life…
Even with TwitterBerry installed on my BlackBerry, I still don’t have the urge the tweet every hour on the hour.
LOL. Can I celebrate the longest gap between tweets? 446 days, 14 hours, 16 minutes, 19 seconds. Maybe I just don’t get it. :-/
