The WYSIWYG* Blog

Loose Ends

Home of my ongoing adventures with fiber. Could be a whole blog itself, but who has the time?!

Well, so much for that thought. Since August 3, 2007 I’ve been part of the Beta test on Ravelry. (Username: JenniferT) At the moment, access only to registered beta users, but hopefully open to the knitting public soon. Be forewarned-next to facebook, Ravelry is a serious time-suck.

My Local Yarn Shop-Gourmet Yarn

A real yarn shop? In Israel? Pinch me-I must be dreaming (and I hope I don't wake up)! A real yarn shop? In Israel? Pinch me-I must be dreaming (and I hope I don't wake up)! A real yarn shop? With all that yarn, you’d think that I’d never need to set foot inside a yarn shop. Well, that’s probably true, but since Orly’s opened this incredibly lovely yarn shop here in Israel, I still do my bit in supporting her.

If you come to Israel, you can find Orly’s Gourmet Yarn Shop in the heart of Ra’anana at 111 Ahuza St.

The Yarn Deprivation Zone (tm) no longer! (And an update: On my last visit to the shop in June 2008, Orly mentioned that a website for the shop is finally in the works.)

While I lived in Minnesota, I knit big, heavy sweaters that became the equivalent of coats once we moved back to the coast of Israel. I now focus on small projects, consequently the yarnstash to finished project ratio is, shall we say, screwed. My longest-running work-in-progress is a Rowan kit I picked up in England following a Rowan Knitting Workshop in 1994, Kaffe Fassett’s “Kilim Cushion Cover” which my knitbuddy has nicknamed the “Kill’em Cushion Cover”. My hair was dark then.
